M’Dee started in 2006 as a hobby that got out of hand. Mohd Rosidi Abdul Rashid was
teaching computer science in Bukit Mertajam and cooking at home in the evenings. He kept
adjusting one recipe, the sauce for char koay teow, until friends stopped asking for the
recipe and started asking him to bottle it. He made five hundred bottles. They
sold.
He took early retirement from teaching and moved production into
Kompleks Perda Food Park in Tasek Gelugor. The recipe has not changed since. The kitchen
now turns out thousands of bottles a month, holds Halal certification from JAKIM and MeSTI
from the Ministry of Health, and reaches homes through Mydin, Sunshine, Agrobazaar, Shopee,
Lazada and TikTok Shop.

A proper char koay teow lives or dies on the sauce, and that is the part that takes decades to balance. We have done it for you. You bring the prawns, the egg, the kuey teow and a hot wok, and dinner tastes like the stall you grew up with.
